CS2 Damage Calculator
Calculate exact weapon damage, shots to kill, and time to kill. Includes proper knife attack types and a weapon comparison table.
Damage formula
36 × 4 × 1.000 × 0.775 = 111.6
Base × Hit multiplier × Distance × Armor = Final damage. Community estimates — not official Valve values.

How CS2 damage works
How does armor affect damage?
Kevlar reduces body damage based on each weapon's armor penetration. Helmets protect the head from most rifles — but the AK-47, Desert Eagle, and AWP still one-shot through helmet at close range.
How does knife damage work?
All CS2 knives deal identical damage. Left-click slash does 40 HP (34 vs armor). Right-click stab does 65 HP (55 vs armor). A backstab from behind is always an instant kill regardless of armor.
How does grenade damage work?
HE grenades deal up to 98 HP at the blast center (57 vs armor). Molotovs and incendiary grenades ramp up to 40 DPS. Flash, smoke, and decoy nades only deal 1–3 HP on direct impact.
About the CS2 Damage Calculator
Knowing how many shots it takes to kill — and whether a headshot one-taps through a helmet — is fundamental CS2 knowledge. This free damage calculator shows exact weapon damage by hitbox, armor type, and distance for every rifle, pistol, SMG, sniper, shotgun, and heavy gun in Counter-Strike 2.
Toggle Kevlar, Kevlar + Helmet, or no armor to see how armor penetration affects body and head damage. Drag the range slider to model distance falloff. The comparison table ranks all weapons by headshot damage at your current range so you can quickly see which guns one-tap.
The Knife tab covers slash, stab, and backstab attack types with correct armor behavior. The Grenades tab models HE proximity damage, molotov and incendiary fire DPS, and utility nade chip damage. Figures use community-estimated values — close guides for learning, not official Valve numbers.
CS2 armor penetration explained
Kevlar reduces body damage based on each weapon's armor penetration stat. A helmet protects the head from most rifles at range, but high-penetration weapons like the AK-47, Desert Eagle, and AWP still one-shot through helmet at close to medium range.
The M4A1-S and M4A4 typically need two headshots to kill a helmeted target unless the enemy has low HP. Against unarmored eco players, most rifles kill with a single chest shot.
Which CS2 weapons one-tap through a helmet?
The AWP is lethal on almost any clean hit regardless of armor. The AK-47 and Desert Eagle reliably one-tap a helmeted head at close to medium range. The SG 553 and AUG with their scopes also deal enough headshot damage to one-tap at most ranges.
Use the weapon comparison table above to check headshot damage for every gun at your selected range. If headshot damage exceeds 100 HP after armor reduction, the weapon one-taps.
Grenade damage in CS2
HE grenades deal up to 98 HP at the blast center (57 HP vs armored targets). Molotovs and incendiary grenades ramp to 40 DPS and ignore armor entirely. Flash, smoke, and decoy grenades deal minimal chip damage but provide crowd control — smokes block vision for ~18 seconds and flashes blind for up to several seconds depending on angle.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much damage does a headshot do in CS2?
Headshots use a 4× damage multiplier on base weapon damage. An AK-47 headshot deals 111 damage before armor reduction — enough to one-tap through a helmet at most ranges. Actual damage depends on the weapon, distance, and target armor.
Does Kevlar reduce headshot damage in CS2?
Kevlar protects the chest, stomach, and arms — not the head. The helmet is what reduces headshot damage. Against high-penetration guns like the AK-47 or Desert Eagle, a helmet often will not save you from a close-range headshot.
Do CS2 weapons lose damage over distance?
Yes, most weapons have damage falloff at longer ranges. The AWP has effectively no practical falloff. Pistols and SMGs lose a relatively large share of damage at distance, which is why rifles dominate long sightlines.
How many shots does it take to kill with the AK-47?
One headshot kills at most ranges. Two chest shots kill an unarmored target; three chest shots against Kevlar. Use the calculator above with your exact range and armor settings for precise shots-to-kill.
Is this CS2 damage calculator accurate?
It uses well-known Counter-Strike base damage and headshot multiplier values. Armor penetration and range falloff use simplified community models rather than Valve's exact internal math. Treat outputs as close guides for learning and crosshair placement, not precise in-game guarantees.
